AODA Integrated Accessibility Standards Policy

Purpose

This policy is intended to meet the requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards, Ontario Regulation 191/11 for the Employment Standard set forth under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. This policy applies to the provision of accessible employment services for people with disabilities. All employment services provided by Insurance Bureau of Canada (“IBC”) shall follow the principles of dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity.

Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

IBC has developed and will maintain and document a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan outlining its strategy to prevent and remove barriers from its workplace and to improve opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The Multi-Year Accessibility Plan will be reviewed and updated every five years, and is posted on IBC's internal and external websites. Upon request, IBC will provide a copy of the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan in an accessible format.

Scope

This policy applies to all IBC staff, contract employees, students and consultants.

Policy

IBC is committed to providing persons with disabilities the same opportunity to access our resources and services, in a manner consistent with the principles of dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity.

Furthermore, IBC shall use every effort to ensure that we meet the needs of persons with disabilities, in a timely manner, through the implementation of this policy in accordance with the spirit and intent of all applicable legislation including the AODA, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and Ontario’s accessibility laws.
